Why did Canada fight in the war?

A

Canada was automatically roped into the war when Britain declared war, despite being a country since 1867

Britain as considered by most (sans Quebec) to be the mother country

Canada was so loyal to Britain, to the point where even though they only had 3000 soldiers prior to the war, it expanded to 30 000 soldiers during the war

Sam Hughes only trained them for four months, and made them use outdated strategies like running the line

He made them use the infamous Ross Rifle, and gave them cardboard boots
