Describe the main bony structures and bowel in a PA film of CXR and lateral X-ray.

A
  • Trace the clavicles, looking for fractures, which are often incidental findings
  • Spinous processes should be midline in the trachea
  • Scapula present, curving to posterior to the lung
  • Increased density under R hemidiaphragm, representing liver - there should be no gas underneath the right hemidiaphragm, occasionally there may be a loop of colon
  • Stomach/colon in L hemidiaphragm
