Point out the major lung structures on the PA view of a CXR.

  1. RUL and RLL - no clear division, usually about halfway through.
  2. Costophrenic angles - should both be sharp
  3. Trachea midline - follow down to the shadow of the carina
  4. Cardiophrenic angles - should both be sharp

Point out the major lung structures in a lateral view of the lung.

A
  1. Retrosternal space
  2. You can draw a diagonal line and ‘Y’ shape as shown, which helps to differentiate the lobes of the R lung.
  3. The RUL and LUL are overlaid.
  4. The RLL and LLL are overlaid.
