2.4 - Analogue electronics Flashcards
1
Q
What can an op-amp be used for?
A
Increase the voltage of a signal
2
Q
State 2 characteristics of an ideal op amp
A
- Input current should be virtually zero, so the op amp has almost infinite input resistance, having very little effect on the circuit producing the input signal
- There should be no potential difference between the inverting and non inverting inputs, so that both input pins are at the same potential
3
Q
What are 2 restrictions of an op amps output voltage
A
- An op amps output voltage cannot be greater than the positive power supply voltage
- An op amps output voltage cannot be less than the negative power supply voltage
4
Q
What does an op amp connected in inverting mode do?
A
It will invert the input signal
5
Q
What does an op amp connected in differential mode do?
A
It will amplify the potential difference between its two inputs
