State 2 characteristics of an ideal op amp

A
  • Input current should be virtually zero, so the op amp has almost infinite input resistance, having very little effect on the circuit producing the input signal
  • There should be no potential difference between the inverting and non inverting inputs, so that both input pins are at the same potential
