2.3 - Capacitance Flashcards
What is capacitance?
The ratio of charge to p.d (F)
What is the relationship between charge and p.d between two parallel conducting plates?
The charge on two parallel conducting plates is directly proportional to the p.d between the plates
Why must work be done to charge a capacitor?
As p.d. builds up on the plates, energy is required to move electrons against the field between the plates, which was created by the charge on plates
How do you find the work done (energy) to charge a capacitor on a Q/V graph?
The area under the graph
What’s the relationship between current and frequency in a capacitive circuit?
The current is directly proportional to the frequency
