• Research and Observation (Ex. Weather monitoring and forecasting. Theses satellites move at the same rate as Earth spins (in a geosynchronous orbit), so that the same area can be observed at all times)
• Remote Sensing in low Earth orbit (Ex. Taking images of Earth’s surface to use for planning)
• Personal Tracking Devices (Ex. Global Positioning System/GPS, where the receiver picks up signals from the satellite and your position is shown on the screen)
