It is as if the earth has been
split down to Pātāl (the lower realms), and we begin to fill it with water – obviously, it can never be filled. Similarly, the indriyas have never become satisfied by the vishays, and they never will be. Vachanamrut: Gadhada II 47
“If one fills many trunks with 1000 million
packets of ash, locks and keeps them, and if when, someday, one needs them (to pay for something) one takes them out, will something useful come out?”
Then (someone) said, “No, Mahārāj.”
