What is a bottom-up scheme ?
A bottom-up scheme is a funded by people who won’t benefit from it but fund it to help out and is considered more environmentally friendly.
What is a top-down scheme ?
A top-down scheme is scheme which usually has a high cost that will benefit those who funded it and no one else. It also isn’t as friendly to the environment.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a bottom-up scheme ?
Advantages :
Is affordable and doesn’t harm the environment as much as top-down schemes can.
Disadvantages :
Will not benefit the government and probably won’t have an effect on the a larger scale a it affects the individual.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a top-down scheme ?
Advantages :
If successful, then it would help a large area, e.g: a dam being built could power a city.
Disadvantages :
Costs lots of money and can have negative side effects for others who do not benefit (the people).
Assess whether a top-down scheme or a bottom-up scheme is better and give justification for your answer.
I think that bottom-up schemes are better as the are cheaper than top-down schemes and can help more people whereas top-down schemes only help a few people in the government.
Who benefits the most and the least from a top-down scheme ?
The people who benefit the most are the government and the TNC’s whereas the people benefit much less.
Who benefits the most and least from a bottom-up scheme ?
The people who benefit the most are the common people and the government benefits little, if any.
Who fund bottom-up schemes and who fund top-down schemes ?
Bottom-up schemes are funded by NGO’s who are Non Government Organisations and top-down schemes are funded by government organisations and TNC’s (Trans-National Corporations).
