ACL
Access Control List - ACL is made up of rules that either allow access to a computer environment or deny it. Sort of like a guest list at an exclusive club
AES
Advanced Encryption Standard - A symmetric block cipher chosen by the U.S. government to protect classified information.
DLP
Data Loss Prevention - Makes sure that users do not send sensitive or critical information outside the corporate network. The term describes software products that help a network administrator control the data that users can transfer.
EFS
Encrypting File System - Provides an added layer of protection by encrypting files or folders on various versions of the Microsoft Windows OS.
EFS is a functionality of NTFS and is built into a device via the OS.
FTP
File Transfer Protocol - Refers to a group of rules that govern how computers transfer files from one system to another over the internet. Businesses use FTP to send files between computers, while websites use FTP for the uploading and downloading of files from their website’s servers.
GDPR
General Data Protection Regulation - Sets a new standard for consumer rights regarding their data, but companies will be challenged as they put systems and processes in place to maintain compliance. Compliance will cause some concerns and new expectations of security teams.

Mobile Device Management - Software that allows IT administrators to control, secure and enforce policies on smartphones, tablets and other endpoints.
PCI (DSS)
Payment Card Industry (Data Security Standard) - A set of requirements designed to ensure that ALL organizations that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment.
RADIUS
Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service - A networking protocol that authorizes and authenticates users who access a remote network.
S.M.A.R.T.
Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology - A monitoring system included in computer HDDs, SSDs, and eMMC drives. Detects and reports various indicators of drive reliability with the intent of anticipating imminent hardware failures.
SaaS
Software as a Service - A way of delivering applications over the internet - as a service. Instead of installing and maintaining software, you simply access it via the Internet, freeing yourself from complex software and hardware management.
SFC
System File Checker - A windows 10 utility that helps administrators to check for file corruption. The executable utility may help to repair registry data. SFC is a feature of modern windows operating systems including windows 10, windows 8, windows 7 and widows vista.
TPM
Trusted Platform Module - A computer chip (Microcontroller) that can securely store artifacts used to authenticate the platform (your PC or laptop).
