2.2 Routing and Bandwidth Management Flashcards
What are the three ways that an IP address can be added to router’s IP routing table?
Dynamically, statically, and direct connection.
Arrange these routing protocols in order from lowest to highest default Administrative Distance:
OSPF
External EIGRP
RIP
EIGRP
Unknown Route
Direct Connection
Static Route
Direct Connection: 0
Static Route: 1
EIGRP: 90
OSPF: 110
RIP: 120
External EIGRP: 170
Unknown Route: 255
What is the difference between Link State Routing Protocols and Distance Vector Routing Protocols?
In Link State routing, all routers broadcast all of it’s connected networks with all routers.
In Distance Vector routing, routers send a full copy of their routing tables to neighbors periodically.
Is the following protocol IGP or EGP, Link State or Distance Vector, and what is it’s major metric:
RIP
IGP, Distance Vector, and Hop Count.
Is the following protocol IGP or EGP, Link State or Distance Vector, and what is it’s major metric:
OSPF
IGP, Link State, and Cost.
Is the following protocol IGP or EGP, Link State or Distance Vector, and what is it’s major metric:
EIGRP
IGP, “Advanced” Distance Vector (Cisco proprietary), hop
count, device load, link reliability and MTU size (Remember this protocol uses many metrics less than what exactly they are).
Is the following protocol IGP or EGP, Link State or Distance Vector, and what is it’s major metric:
BGP
EGP, Hybrid Path Vector, and BGP is the routing protocol of the internet.
What is the default static route?
0.0.0.0
