What does “Talk Group” mean?

What are ops channels used for?
- Structure Fires
- Gas leaks
- Technical rescues
- MVAs with entrapment
- Water rescues
- HAZMAT incidents
- Mass Casualty Incidents
- other incidents by request
What is channel 16?
MTFR private - used for low-risk type calls where an ops channel is not assigned. Its on the radio system but not in other agencies radios (other than LCWC)
What does Simplex mean?
Simplex is “off the system”. Communicates radio to radio directly, used in situations where portable radios go ‘out of range’ of a radio tower.
What is the MTFR F20 PRIVATE TALKGROUP?
Used by MTFR personnel in the following situations:
- daily non-emergency operations
- operations apparatus going “on air” for errands, fuel, etc.
- training evolutions
- Emergency and non-emergency calls where an ops channel is not assigned (minor vehicle accidents, automatic fire alarms, investigations, etc.
What talk groups for a high-risk / multi-agency, call?
- Response and arrival - on Alpha, Bravo, or Charlie
- On-Scene operations on talkgroup assigned - ops #2-12 (or simplex)
What talk groups for a low-risk / MTFR-only call?
- Response and arrival on Alpha, Bravo or Charlie
- On-scene operations on MTFR 20 private (or simplex)
