- he said he will insist on reductions in spending in parts of the bill, although congress does not have to go along with this
- house minority leader Kevin McCarthy and sseveral republican senators, including Sens David Perdue and Lindsey Graham convinced Trump to sign off the bill

what happened?
A
- democrat reconciliation (overriding the filibuser rule which could require a 60 senator majority)
- Joe Manchin publicly pulled his support for not matching his reccommended cost of $1.75 trillion, it actually lost $2.2 trillion
- Manchin rejected it, and senate majority leader Chuck Schumer discussed, resulting in the inflation reduction act 2022 which incorporated some of the Build Back Better Acts climate change, healthcare, and tax reform proposals

what is it
A
- the IRA is creating opportunities to build projects, hire workers, and manufacture equipment needed to strengthen domestic supply chains, lower household energy costs whlile reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and pay good wages for those efforts.

- in 2021, the bill failed to pass in the senate, having previously passed the house, after falling short of the 60 senators needed to invoke cloture
- partisanship in the senate, difficulty passing legislation, gridlock and issue of the filibuster.
