2.2 - Electrical Concepts Flashcards
What are the two kinds of charge?
Positive & Negative
What happens when there is two opposite charges?
They attract to each other
What happens when there is two of the same types of charge?
They repell each other
What is the direction of an electrical field?
The Direction of the force experienced by a positive charge in the field.
What happens to the negative charge in an electric field?
It goes in the opposite direction to the field. unlike a positive charge.
What is the unit for charge?
Coulomb (Q)
What is the unit for current?
Ampere (I)
What is the equation between Charge, Current, and time?
Q = IT
(Charge) = (Current) x (Time)
ALWAYS CONVERT TIME TO SECONDS!
What is an electrical Conductor?
An electrical Conductor is a material in which charge carriers can move.
Give some examples of electrical conductors -
Iron, Copper, Brass, Aluminium, carbon.
Water is also a good conductor.
What is an Electrical Insulator?
An electrical insulator is a material in which charge carriers cannot move
What are some good Electrical Insulators?
Glass, rubber, polythene plastic.
What is the unit for potential Difference?
The Volt (V)
What is work (electrical)
