31
Theological Truths found in the stories of creation in Genesis:
(a) God is the Creator of the universe. (b) Creation is good. (c) Creation is ordered and deliberate. (d) Human beings are the high point of creation. (e) Human beings are made in God’s image and likeness. (f) Human beings have free will. (g) Sin has its consequences.
32
Being made in God’s image and likeness means:
o Human beings are more important than other parts of creation. o We are like God and so can relate to him. o We have consciousness and self-awareness.
33
The Book of Genesis says that human beings have dominion over all animals. What does this mean?
This means that humans are stewards who have control over all animals in the world, and the responsibility to look after them.
34
What does it mean to be a steward of creation?
A steward of creation means that you have to look after the environment because we have the power to protect or destroy it.
35
To be good stewards of creation we can:
· Recycle · Raise awareness of climate change (or any environmental issue) · Join the Eco-Group · Save electricity, water, gas etc.
36
How can the stories in Genesis be theologically true without being literally true?
because the meaning of the stories can be true without them being factual. The stories are inspired by God, and they are designed to get a point across that is true.
