Creation
When God made the universe – “the heavens and the earth”.
Dominion
Having power to look after or harm something.
Evolution
The way that things grow and develop.
Faith
What is believed to be true about God and the Church.
Fallen State
The sinful condition of the human race; imperfect.
Image and Likeness
Resembling; looking or being like (God in particular)
Material Things
Things that we gather around us; possessions.
Mystic
A holy person who experiences visions.
Pre-Creation
When nothing at all existed, except God.
Revelation
The way God showed himself to Israel by his Word;
Christians believe that Jesus is God’s full self-revelation.
Scientific Truths
Statements that can be proven scientifically.
Steward
A person whose task it is to look after something.
Stewardship
The task of looking after/caring for things.
Sustainer
God, who keeps creation in existence.
Symbol
Something that is used to help people understand difficult ideas.
Symbolic
Using a sign or story to explain something difficult.
Theological Truths
Statements about God and his relationship with humans which cannot be proven scientifically but which are nonetheless believed to be true.
The Tempter
The devil or evil one.
Vision
A supernatural revelation.
Genesis
The word Genesis means beginning or origins
ex nihilo
The phrase ex nihilo is used to describe the way in which God creates out of nothing.
Day One
God creates light and separates it from darkness, creating day and night.
Day Two
God divides the waters of the earth by a vault called heaven, with water above and below.
