The government agreed to take care of its people from “cradle to grave”. It included: free hospital treatment for all British citizens, provision of GPs to make sure that everyone can see a doctors for any medical complaint, ambulance services etc

Increased understanding that lifestyle choices cause illness like cancer, diabetes and heart disease
The discovery of DNA identified the purpose of every gene in the body. This meant that genetic diseases can now be identified early enough to prevent many cancers
High technology diagnosis so patients are now able to be diagnosed by blood tests, scans and monitors. This means treatments can be administered earlier
People receive more government funding for inquiring about medicine
