2021 Flashcards
Bio mechanical principles of prep for a PFM crown using shillingburg principles?
-1.5mm occlusal reduction , 1-1.5mm buccal shoulder and 0.5mm lingual chamfer
-retention and resistance using 5 degree taper
-structural durability using FCB , planar occlusal reduction and buccal/lingual axial reduction
-marginal integrity using bevel, shoulder and chamber , no undercuts
-preservation of periodontium finishing line supragingival so easy for dentist and pt to keep clean
What are standards of the dental team?
GDC guidelines
What standards of dental team can be breached by taking notes home?

-do MDAS and ASA
What aspects of history and clinical assessment helps determine if suitable for implants?
-MH: not on bisphosphonates risk of MRONJ, poorly controlled diabetic , immunosuppressed infection, steroids so poor healing, bone disease MRONJ and poor bone less dense , RT, bleeding disorders
- allergy to TI
-SH smokes 20–300% increase of failure
-exam: needs enough space horizontally and vertically minimum space of 1.5mm between implant and teeth,
-perio stats
-caries risk
-access 2 minimum fingers
-skeletal pattern
-smile line
-pt expectations
If roots of nearby teeth are convergent what other options?
-try shorter implants but warn risk
-bridge fixed fixed or cantilevered
-RPD
-refer back to ortho to close gap ,
Composite build ups
