Phone calls to an employee on behalf of the department during the employee’s off duty hours, of a duration of less then 3 minutes, will not be cause for compensation to the employee

Employees in an on call status shall start their call back status period upon entering their vehicle and checking “in service” on the radio

When an employee is called back to return Dept property or to correct or re submit improperly completed reports, correspondence or legal processes, the minimum 3 hour will not apply and the employee will be compensated only for hours actually worked

Standby time is compensated at the rate of 2/10 of 1 hour for each hour of standby duty. Employees who are notified to standby, other than for court, on their RDO will be guaranteed a minimum of 2 hours straight time pay

Detectives and such, compensated at the rate of $2.50 per hour for hours in the week they are in an on call status and will be assigned a vehicle in said status

In the event a Detective is contacted by telephone or page, the Detective shall revert to paid for calls no less than .5 hours. Additional calls during .5 hour period not subject to an additional comp

Employees who are required to attend to Dept business outside of their normal shift will be compensated for their actual time conducting said business but no less than 2 hours of straight pay or comp. Business immediately appended to the employee’s normal shift will not be subject to the 2 hour minumum

Not accrue personal leave during a pay period if in a non pay status during the entire 2 week cycle. Personal leave shall not be taken unless if has been accrued

Failure of the employee to provide a doctor’s slip justifying the absence or to sign the requested release is grounds for denial of Personal/Sick leave and for disciplinary action up to and including dismissal

Employees who are suspended without pay during a period in which an observed holiday falls shall have double time credit made toward the hours of suspension in the employee would have been scheduled to work that holiday

Employees requesting FMLA in excess of 10 consecutive days have the option of requesting leave without pay instead of using personal leave.

5 consecutive workdays will start at the employee’s option on the day of death or the day following the day of death. In the event the funeral is not conducted during that period, and the employee used less than the 5 days, the employee is allowed to use the remaining balance of Bereavement to attend the funeral

Employee’s same sex, live in, companion whose name is on file with either the City of Orlando Domestic Partner Registry or the Orange County Domestic Partner Registry for at least 30 days before the Bereavement Leave is requested

In the event of an in the line of duty death in the Employee’s squad, the Employee’s Section Commander, upon request by an employee, may grant 5 days off within a pay period without loss of pay, but subject to availability

Employees who are unable to perform the required duties of their rank shall apply to the Police Pension Board for a disability pension within 30 days of:
- Reaching MMI
- 12 months of reduced status
- written notification by physician that unable to return to full duty

Up to 6 hours for multiple subpoenas with the same defendant during the same workweek

Upon request, employees who actually attend a court proceeding for at least 6 hours after completing a full midnight shift and have a line up reporting time within 8 hours or less after departing court, will be credited with a full shift worked by utilizing personal leave or comp if staffing allows.
