Causes of Tailstrike on Rotation
- Improper Rotation

What factors may cause early rotation?
- Gusts
- windshear
- obstacles on the runway
- v speed callout confusion
What is proper rotation procedure?
3 deg/sec rotation rate to 18 deg
What effect can the main strut Height have on Tailstrike prevention?
More compressed strut places tail closer to deck on rotation or in the landing flare.
What conditions may lead to a bounced landing?
- Excessive sink rate
- incorrect flare
- late flare
- thermal activity
Recovery procedure for a “low” bounce
• Maintain normal pitch attitude
(Do not increase pitch attitude)
• Continue the landing
• Be aware of increases landing distance
