Sphere of Influence
When one area controls another in a leading way, like England controlling the 13 Colonies many years ago.
Open Door Policy
It was a policy about the Chinese that allowed trade and left the supposed ”door” open for trading. It also forbade any kind of Spheres of Influence, although it ended after the communist takeover of China.
Sherman Antitrust Act
The sherman antitrust act prevented businesses from teaming up together, and eventually making a monster that can create a monopoly. This also prevents monopolies from taking over pricing, and many other factors.
Northern Securities Case
This was a case in the Supreme Court, and it was against the Government.This was because Northern Securities violated the Sherman Antitrust act and created a monopoly.
Federal Trade Commission
The federal government created a team and official band that helped protect the economy from more monopolies and illegal busness tactics like treats and scamming
16th Amendment
This Amendment allowed an Income Tax, but you also can’t be taxed a ridiculous amount compared to your income.
Federal Reserve Act
This made a commission to help protect the economy, and promote stability. This regulates different financial institutions, and created the Federal Reserve as the Central Bank of the U.S
Liberty Bonds
Amounts of Money that the Country buys to have money to pay for military and assist Allied Nations for the War effort.
Margin Buying
a kind of loan from a broker. This involves the stock market where you can buy stock you normally can’t, and you can amplify returns, but you can’t if investments fail.
Black Tuesday
The Black Tuesday is also known as the Wall street crash, and a part of the great depression. It damaged the Federal Reserve, and people lost loans and their stocks. The stock market plummeted, and people were miserable.
Bonus Army
An army of Veterans from world war I that started a riot in Washington D.C. They demanded bonus payment for their services in the War to help with the great depression.
Hundred Days
The first hundred days of a United States President first term are sometimes used to measure a president’s success and achievements when his power and influence are at their highest.
Fireside Chats
The Fireside Chats were messages given by Roosevelt on the radio to cheer people up from the Great Depression. It allowed people to get news quickly and hear all the federal business.
Federal Emergency Relief Association
This association distributed money to people and families in need during the Depression, relieving their poverty.
Civilian Conservation Corps
This helped protect nature with labor money, and helped protect the environment. However, this didn’t last long as they soon ran out of funds.
