20: CPR Imaging Flashcards
Purpose of continuous wave, pulsed wave Doppler, and color flow Doppler for US
- Continuous: measures high velocity
- Pulsed: assess low velocity
- Color flow: asses regurgitation flows, shunts, pulm vein flow
Pt positioning for echocardiogram US
Left lateral decubitus
What does MUGA stand for?
Multiple gated acquisition scan
Contraindications for MUGA scan?
Renal disease, pregnant or breastfeeding
Contraindications for coronary angiography
Renal failure, contrast allergy, coagulopathy, uncontrolled HTN, decompensated HF, GI hemorrhage, pregnancy, active infection
Most posterior part of the hear
LA
What can LA enlargement cause?
Compression of esophagus -> dysphagia and/or left recurrent laryngeal near compression causing hoarseness
How to take AP vs PA CRX
AP: pt with back against film plate + XR in front
PA: pt with front to film plate + XR in back
What is important to consider when viewing AP view XR?
Mediastinum appears widened due to AP magnification - dont even consider heart size when looking at AP
Most common CXR view
PA
How to tell if a CXR is PA or AP
Look at medial edges of scapula - in PA view, scapulae dont overlap lungs at all
ABCDEF in CXR
Airway, bones, circulation/cardiac, diaphragm, expanded lungs, foreign bodies
What is important to do when evaluating for pleural effusion
Do AP/PA and a lateral view - sometimes hard to spot with just an AP/PA view
Pulmonary meniscus sign
Meniscus is commonly seen with pleural effusion on CSR, due to surface tension between two different fluids in pleural cavity (nl serous fluid + pleural effusion)
Contraindiations for CTA
Renal disease, pregnant women
