What is the difference between an exocrine and an endocrine gland?

A

Both are invaginations of the epithelium
Exocrine= remain in contact with epithelium ie goblet cells
Endocrine= lose contact with epithelium secrete into blood vessels ie thyroid gland

A

mucous= ie trachea more slimy
serous= ie pancreas more liquid

A

Fixed cells= fibroblasts (make ECM), macrophages, adipocytes (energy), mast cells
Transient= WBCs
