What are the economic factors affecting a persons growth and development?
Income, material possessions, wealth and poverty
What are the physical factors affecting a persons growth and development?
Genetic inheritance, diet, amount and type of physical activity, sexual health, illness or disease
What are the social and emotional factors affecting a persons growth and development?
Gender, family relationship, friends, educational experiences, employment/unemployment, ethnicity and religion, life experiences
What are the environmental factors affecting a persons growth and development?
Housing, pollution, access to health and welfare services
How can marriage affect a persons growth and development?
Emotional support.
Social- companionship
Intellectual- Work harder as wants to support family
Physical- Two incomes
Explain how where you live can affect your growth and development
Physical-noise and can’t sleep
Intellectual- Good/bad schools
Emotional- Embarrassed by where live/ depression
Social- Afraid to go out at night, no facilities locally
What are the three types of abuse?
Physical, sexual, emotional (neglect)
What is meant by the term ‘neglect’
A child does not have any care.Parents may not understand or care for the childs emotional needs of love, security, comfort and encouragement.
What affect on a childs development could physical/sexual abuse have?
Physical- Scars/bruises
Intellectual- May not attend school or when they do, cannot concentrate
Emotional- Unhappy, sad, wont trust many people
Social- Unlikely to go out and socialise
What is an example of physical abuse?
Being hit or punched/ harmed physically
What is an example of verbal abuse?
Being called names
What is emotional abuse?
Being deprived of love (neglect)
What is sexual abuse?
Having an intimate relationship without permisson
What is a psychological affect of being abused?
Being affraid
How could verbal abuse affect a persons development?
Their self-esteem may be lowered, therefore they may not go to school, lowering their education, they will not learn and also will not like school because of the social side of it.
