origins of agape in the New Testament and its religious development in the writing of Fletcher
while the origins of agape can be traced back to the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament, American Theologian - Joseph Fletcher’s work in the 20th century further developed its application in ethical decision-making.
He believed that love, when practiced selflessly and with a focus on promoting the well-being of others, (and as the guiding principle) can guide individuals in making ethically sound decisions.
His writings sought to provide a framework for applying the principle of agape to various ethical dilemmas, emphasizing the need for a flexible approach to moral judgments.
