If you can substitute one of these for a verb in the sentence it is a linking verb
Transitive verb
A transitive verb is a verb that can take a direct object. In other words, it is done to someone or something. Most verbs are transitive.
Intransitive verb
An intransitive verb is one that does not take a direct object. In other words, it is not done to someone or something. It only involves the subject.
Adjective
Adjectives are describing words. Large, grey, and friendly are all examples of adjectives. In the examples below, these adjectives are used to describe an elephant.
Adverb
Adverbs are used to modify verbs. They tell us when, where, how, in what manner, or to what extent an action is performed.
Preposition
Where an object is whether it be in front behind to the right or adjacent
Conjunction
Conjunctions join words or groups of words together. The most common ones are and, or, and but for not so
Interjection
It’s gonna have an ! At the beginning or the end of the sentence
