• use an infinite phrase OR a participle phrase: Don’t mix them!
• participle and infitive phrases can be used in different voices and aspects
• we form the negative with “not”
• we often use a participle phrase to avoid connecting two clauses with a simple conjunction or relative pronoun
• don’t use modal verbs with participle and infiitve phrases
