What is the peritoneum
Epithelium lining the abdominal cavity
Visceral and parietal layers - between them is the peritoneal cavity
The foregut contains
Intraabdominal oesophagus, stomach and duodenum up the 2nd (descending) part of the duodenum - ampulla of Vater
The midgut contains
2nd part of the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, caecum, appendix, ascending colon, transverse colon up to the splenic flexure
The hundgut contains
Splenic flexure, descending colon, sigmoid, rectum
What has a dorsal and ventral mesentery
Dorsal - all 3 regions
Ventral - foregut only

T12
Vertebral level of SMA?
L1
Vertebral level of IMA?
L3
Branches of the superior mesenteric artery?
Middle colic, Right colic, Ileocolic, Jejunal, Ileal arteries
Branches of the inferior mesenteric artery?
Left colic, sigmoid, superior rectal
What forms the hepatic portal vein?
Splenic vein is joined by the IMV, posterior to the body of the pancreas at L2
Splenic vein then joined by the SMV posterior to the neck of the pancreas at L2
Tributaries of the splenic vein?
IMV, Short gastric veins, left gastro-omental vein, pancreatic veins
Tributaries of the SMV?
Jejunal, ileal, ileocolic, right colic, middle colic. Right gastro-omental vein, anterior + posterior inferior pancreaticoduodenal veins
Tributaries of the IMV?
Begins as the superior rectal vein, receives tributaries from the sigmoid veins, left colic vein
