2. Flight Control System Flashcards
What are some advantages from Fly by wire?
Weights and parts reduction
lower maintenance cost
Pilot work reduction
Better and common aircraft handling characteristics
better flexibility
feature of autopilot are in manual control mode available
What primary flight control Devices are there?
Rudder, Ailerons, Elevator
What secondary flight control devices are there?
High lift, Spoiler, Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer (THS)
Whats the difference between a Krueger Flap and a Slat?
Krueger Flap extends down and forwards and basically increases the wingattack field
Slat only drives forward
Droop nose drives downward
What aero systems exists at back of the wing?
Fowler Flaps, single, double triple slatted
Dropped hinge
Four bar linkage
What 2 types of Faults are there?
Class 1 Fault:
failure which results in one particular component being rendered inoperable
Class 2 Fault:
results in some particular component remaining active, but the functionality it provides is in error
Explain Redundancy, Dissimilarity and Segregation
Redundancy: is the multiplication of flight critical components or functions of the safety-critical system with the intention of increasing reliability of the system
Dissimilarity: Dissimilar implementations increase robustness to common-mode faults for safety critical systems by using dissimilar hardware and or software -> tolerate design error
Segregation: natural part of aircraft systems integration. usually adopted for reasons of integrity or criticality and is applied for wiring, hardware and software
