Q

Scientific models of the atoms & THE PLUM PUDDING

A

In early models, it was thought that atoms were tiny spheres that could not be divided. However, Thomson discovered that they had to be changed. Overall, an atom is neutral meaning it has no charge. But
Thomson thought tiny atoms contained electrons surrounded by positive charge . This was called the PLUM PUDDING.

Isotopes and Ions

A

Atoms can gain or lose electrons to become IONS.

Metal atoms lose electrons to form positive ions.
