Via external tests (hr tests, grip tests etc)

Discouraged because they are external tests that don’t seem to correlate well with internal load/fatigue

What key things should you look for in a client/athlete to give you important information as to their state?

A
  • Excited/motivated to train?
  • General sense of tiredness
  • General sense of energy
  • General sense of soreness/stiffness/ things feeling ‘off’

Assess what is normal for the client and then note deviations from the norm for them.

When asking if someone is motivated to train, what is one big consideration with this?

A

Are they actually looking forward to training or in some cases, simply making themselves because they’re committed despite not feeling up to it
