2/21-Objective Writing Flashcards
What are the three critical elements of objective goal writing?
Performance/behavior= measurable
Conditions= context- what you do
Criterion= accuracy- correct productions out total opportunities
What is the definition of goals?
The client will do ‘what behavior, to what extent and for how long.’
What is the definition of performance?
An observable, measurable behavior that is desired to be changed.
The performance is a change in client’s performance, not the clinician’s
On a goal what SHOULDN’T we write? What could you use instead?
“the client will be able to” instead use
“the client will demonstrate the ability to…”
“the client will verbalized the ability to…”
“the client will request the ability to…”
What are types of performance words?
Action-oriented, measurable, observable.
Do not be ambiguous= not measurable
What are conditions?
The conditions under which the client will perform
The context-
- environment/setting
- prompting
- activity parameters (i.e. structured/unstructured)
What is criterion?
How the client ‘should’ perform
Accuracy- number of correct productions out of total trials (baseline)
What do you include in a lesson plan?
Objectives Methods/materials Reinforcements Results Comments
For a lesson plan, what would you include in the objectives?
They should be numbered and follow goal/objective format:
- Performance
- Conditions
- Criterion
For a lesson plan, what question would you ask for the methods/materials section?
How will you teach the client the target behavior?
For a lesson plan, what would you put in the materials section?
A list of the items you will use in the therapy session
For a lesson plan, what would you put in the reinforcement section?
A method to positively reinforce the occurrence of target productions (or at least encourages shaping of target).
For a lesson plan, what would you put in the results section?
Objective data of behavior. These should be numbered and aligned with the objectives
i.e. accuracy 6 out of 10 opportunities.
For a lesson plan, what would you put in the comments section?
Any comments that you want to make about:
- the client and his/her performance
- an evaluation of your performance
- revisions for the next session based on the first two
