What should you do if a patient asks you for an unlicensed dose of medication?
- tell patient you are not able to prescribe (warns of time wait to find out)
- ask ward pharmacist (quicker than getting consultant)
- phone consultant
NOTE: this is not patient safety issue so do not need to consult consultant immediately

do the task and then only afterwards explain that it was not your fault
