#2 Flashcards
360-179 Degrees Required Altitudes above 3000’ AGL
Odd Thousand’ + 500’
180-359 Degrees Required Altitudes above 3000’ AGL
Even thousands + 500’
Wind Altitudes
Select Altitudes favoring flight path
Cruising altitude Tailwind Effects
Quicker Trips and Saving Money on gas
Types of Airspeeds
Indicated Airspeed, Calibrated Airspeed, True Airspeed, Groundspeed, Equivalent Airspeed
Indicated Airspeed
Airspeed indicated on ASI
-Not corrected for Density, Alt, Wind, or Instrument Errros
Calibrated Airspeed
IAS corrected for instrument error
-Gap between IAS and CAS is typically largest at lower airspeeds
True Airspeed
CAS corrected for Density Altitude
-Gap between IAS and TAS increases as temperature or altitude increase
Pitot Tube Pressure Error
Runs on ram air as the air is less dense at higher altitudes or hotter temperatures decrease pressure of air, IAS shows a slower speed then TAS
Groundspeed
True airspeed corrected for wind
