1
Q

Why are these called “boot” or “shoe” verbs?

A

Because if you lay out the conjugation with the three singular pronoun conjugations on one side and the three plural conjugations on the other and then circle around those that are stem-changed/irregular, you make a shape like a boot (all the singular conjugations are stem-changing and then the conjugation for “ellos/as” - they; this is the foot of the boot).
