Rectus Abdominus (need to be able to identify by pic)
Action: flexion of lumbar spine w/ fixed pelvis, Posterior pelvic tilt w/fixed rib cage, expiration, intra-dominal pressure
Fibers run vertically
Transverse Abdominus (need to be able to identify by pic)
Stabilize lumbar spine and pelvis before movement of upper/lower limbs occur
Fibers run horizontally
Wraps around to the back of body
Internal obliques (need to be able to identify by pic)
Unilateral contraction: ipsilateral side flexion and rotation of trunk, associated with forced expiration
Fibers run opposite of external obliques
External obliques (need to be able to identify by pic)
Action:contraction there’s ipsilateral flexion of spine and contralateral trunk rotation
Abdominal Muscle Arrangement
Superficial to Deep
Rectus Abdominus»>Ext Obl»>internal obliq»>Transvers (REI-T)
SubOcciptal Muscles
4 pairs
Superior to Inferior
RCP-MINOR
RCP-Major
OC-Superior
OC-Inferior
Splenius Muscles
2 groups: (Capitus & Cervicis)
Unilateral: ipsilat rot & SB neck
Bilateral: ext of neck
