Kanner’s syndrome
A disorder of childhood characterized by impaired social learning and communication, restricted interests, diminished imaginative thought, and stereotyped or repetitive nonfunctional movements or verbalizations.
Köhler effect
An increase in motivation that sometimes occurs among individuals working in groups on conjunctive tasks that require persistence but little coordination of effort.

Knowledge
Any internal information, understanding, or capacity to accomplish tasks which has been learned. It is sometimes divided into declarative knowledge, procedural knowledge, and acquaintanceship knowledge.
Latent learning
Learning that occurs through mere exposure without conscious intention, effort, or reinforcement and is not observable until elicited by an appropriate situation. Also called incidental learning and learning without awareness.
Law of exercise
The theory that the repetition of an act makes it more fluid, easier to perform,
less prone to errors, and more likely to be repeated in the same situation in the future.
K-R Formulas
A series of statistical formulas developed by G. W. Kuder and M. W. Richardson concerning test stability. The most important of these is Kuder-Richardson formula 20.
Katasexualism
A sexual preference for dead people or people with characteristics like animals’ or enjoyment of sex with people who dress up as animals.
K complex
A pattern of scalp electrophysiology recorded by an electroencephalograph with brief, high-amplitude spikes or spindles characteristic of the early stages of sleep.
Kinetic depth effect
A visual phenomenon in which a moving shadow of a three-dimensional figure appears to move forward and backward from the flat surface on which it is cast as the object casting the shadow is rotated on an axis.
Kolmogorov-Smirnov test
A nonparametric test of the degree of fit between a sample and a theoretical population or a test of whether two samples have been drawn from the same population. Also called the K-S test.
