1er Parcial Flashcards
What is the cloud?
It describes a global network of services, each with a unique function
Why does the cloud use servers?
The servers are designed to either store and manage data, run apps or deliver content or a service such a streaming videos, web mail, office productivity, software or social media
The information will be available anywhere you go in anytime you need it
what are some advantages of using a public cloud?
- high scalability and agility
- pay as you go pricing
- not responsible for maintenance or updates of the hardware
- minimal technical knowledge to set up and use
what are some disadvantages of using a public cloud?
- security requirements that cannot be met by using public cloud
- government policies in this industry, standards or legal requirements with public clouds cannot meet
- you don’t own the hardware or services and cannot manage them as you want to
- unique business requirement such as having to maintain a legacy application might be hard to meet
What is a public cloud?
Computing services offered by third-party providers over the public Internet, making them available to anyone who wants to use or purchase them.
They may be free or sold on-demand, allowing customers to pay only per usage for the CPU cycles, storage or bandwidth they consume.
What is a private cloud?
Computing services offered either over the internet or a private internal network and only to select users instead of the general public. Also called an internal or corporate cloud.
You control firewalls and your data is yours, you wont share it with your provider.
Deliver a higher level of security and privacy through both company firewalls and internal hosting to ensure operations and sensitive data are not accessible to third-party providers.
What are some advantages of using a private cloud?
- You can ensure the configuration can support any scenario or legacy application.
- you can control (and responsability) over security
- private clouds can meet strict security, compliance or legal requirements.
What are some disadvantages of using a private cloud?
- you have some initial CapEx costs and must purchase the hardware for startup and maintenance.
- Owning the eequipment limits the agility to scale you must buy, install and setup new hardware
- Private cloud require IT skills and expertise that’s hard to come by
What is a Hybrid Cloud?
computing environment that combines an on-prem datacenter (private cloud) with a public cloud. allowing data and apps. to be shared between them.
Some people define hybrid cloud to include “multi-cloud” configuration where an organization uses more than one public cloud in addition to their on-prem datacenter.
What are some advantages of using a hybrid cloud?
- keep any systems running and accessible that use out of date hardware or and out date operating system.
- you have flexibility with what you run locally versus in the cloud
- you can use a you own equipment to meet security, compliance, or legacy scenario where you need to completely control the environment.
What are some disadvantages of using a hybrid cloud?
- can be more expensive than selecting one deployment model since it involves some CapEx cost up front
- it can be more complicated to set up and manage
If we need to use a Cloud where an organization has complete control over resources and security, which is the best option?
A Private Cloud
If we need to use a Cloud that has no capital expenditures to scale up, applications can be quickly provisioned and deprovisioned and organizations pay only for what they use, which is the best option?
A Public Cloud
If we need a Cloud that has more flexibility, organizations determine where to run their applications and control security, compliance or legal requirements, which is the best option?
A Hybrid Cloud
What is IaaS?
infrastructure as a service is the most flexible category of cloud services.
(is all that you can rent and use on the internet)
instead of buying hardware, with IaaS you rent it. It’s an instant computing infrastructure, provisions and managed over the internet.
