What are the special defences to murder?
Diminished responsibility and loss of control
What do the special defences to murder do?
They work as partial defences to murder so if they are successful they aren’t acquitted but they will be guilty of voluntary manslaughter instead of murder
What degree of intention is required for VM?
The same degree of intention as murder
What is the sentencing for VM?
a discretionary life sentence
What are the types of voluntary manslaughter?
- Loss of control
- Diminished responsibility
