Many slum areas were broken up, cheaper mortgages, people live in council homes, weekly wages, increase in private savings, more television use and greater road demand

More people against the government after the Profumo Affairs, ‘The Angry Men’ rebelled against traditional theatre and literature, significant shifts in attitudes
How did Women change between 1951-64?
Women remained as house wives, couldn’t manage money or mortgages and legal documents, prepared for married life at schools but were given birth control and equal pay in some sectors

250,000 workers arrived in England, By 1955 210,000 commonwealth immigrants were in Britain, immigration and nationality act of 1952, 1953 Refugee Relief Act made

Began in 1957 baby boom occurs, new development in technologies, term ‘teenagers’ created, rock and roll popular, no new laws passed
How did Housing change between 1951-64?
300,000 new homes built, Macmillan appointed as minister of housing, only 200,000 unemployed and homeless
How did Education change between 1951-64?
Butler Act passed in 1944 changed the way secondary schools were governed, 6,000 schools built, 11 new universities
