What happened in April 1939 that lead to war breaking out ?

A

Hitler demands Poland to hand over Danzig ( Population 90% German) He assumed Britain and France would support him to avoid war. Poland refused as Britain and France had guaranteed their independence. They had warned Germany Polish invasion would lead to war.

How was Hitler responsible for the outbreak of war ?

A

His aims and policies where unfair and unacceptable. Breaking the terms of the ToV and his promise made to mostly Britain and France. Pushing other countries around and too far e.g. taking Czechoslovakia which he never had the right to take.

A

The appeasement encouraged and gave Hitler the idea that Britain would not stand up to him and betray countries they where supposed to protect.

A

The leader of the USSRs lack of faith in Britain and France along with his fear of Germany meant Stalin made the pact with Hitler and enable him to invade Poland.
