Exocrine glands of pancreas that is arranged in clusters.
Produce digestive enzymes
4 types of pancreatic islets
1) alpha ( A cells)
2) beta (b Cells)
3) delta (D cells)
4) F Cells
What does each pancreatic islets secrete?
A Cell- glucagon
B Cell- insulin
D Cell- somatostatin
F Cells- pancreatic polypeptide
Gonads
Organs that produce sperm in men and oocytes in females
Ovaries
Produce female sex hormones and aid in puberty and pregnancy
Relaxin (RLX)
Peptide hormone released from ovaries that help the cervix to dilate during child birth.
Testes
Secretes testosterone
General adaptation syndrome(G.A.S.)
Bodily changes caused by stress that occurs in 3 stages:
1) initial fight or flight response
2) slower resistance reaction
3) exhaustion
Hyposecretion
Too little or under release of hormones
Hypersecretion
Too much secretion of hormones
