What does passion mean?
Latin term ‘to suffer’
Refers to all the events leading up to and including the death and resurrection of Jesus
Why does Jesus enter Jerusalem on a donkey?
He was showing the people of Jerusalem that he was a humble, suffering servant
—> because he chose to ride on a donkey not a horse
What happens at the anointing of Jesus as Bethany?
Jesus is anointed with expensive oil by a woman
—> the disciples rebuke the woman for wasting expensive oil
Jesus says “she poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial”
—> suggests his upcoming death (omniscient)

Why is the Last supper important?
Shows Jesus as the new sacrificial lamb and that his blood will save all people who believe in him, whether Jew or Gentile, from sin and death

When Jesus drinks the wine he says “This is my blood of the covenant, which is shared out for many”
—> Jesus’ sacrifice will create the new covenant
How does Jesus show he is omniscient when entering Jerusalem?
Tells his disciples where to go and what to do and predicts exactly what they will find and what will happen
—> Godlike ability to see the future
