Skin infections n caused by a tiny mites. Contagious and spread through direct contact

Inflammation of the skin. Eczema and stasis dermatitis

Not contagious
Stasis dermatitis
Is a skin condition that commonly affects the lower legs and ankles
Due to build up of fluid under the skin
Early signs of dermatitis
include rash, scaly red area and itching
Arthritis
Inflammation or swelling of joints.
Decreased mobility
Autoimmune illness
Causes body’s immune system to attack normal tissue
Osteoarthritis
Hips and knees which are weight bearing joints are usually affected
Stiffness, cold or damp
Rheumatoid arthritis
Auto immune disease
Osteoporosis
Causes bone to become porous and brittle
Low back pain, stoooped posture
Closed fracture bone
Broken bone that does not break the skin
Open fracture
Compound fracture; penetrates the skin
To help stop swelling
Elevate the extremity
Partial weight bearing
Is able to support some body weight on one or both legs
None weight bearing
Resident is unable to touch the floor or support any weight on one or both legs

Phantom sensation
When a person feels the body part is still there. Warmth, tingling or itching
Phantom limb pain
Person feels pain that’s been amputated. Remaining damaged nerve ending

Progressive, incurable, causes brain to degenerate
Progressive: worse over time
Affects muscles to become stiff

When one or both sides of the heart stop pumping blood
Congestive heart failure
Apply elastic stockings to reduce swelling in feet and ankle
Bronchitis
Irrational and inflammations of the lining of the bronchi
If resident is breathing differently
Help residents sit upright or lean forward
Asthma
Chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when the respiratory system is hyperactive
Bronchi becomes irritated
Bronchiectasis
Condition in which the bronchial tubes are abnormally enlarged
Abnormal state of the tubes is permanent
