Judas’ betrayal- why he did it

  • Judas wanted a warrior Messiah, but Jesus was too peaceful
  • Night time arrest because they were fearful of Jesus’ authority
  • Jesus said he wasn’t a “bandit”, so there should be no violence

  • Jesus was bounded to convey he was dangerous
  • Mark portrays the priests and Jewish crowd as responsible
  • Christians lay some of the blame on Pilate as he had the power to go against the crowd

  • God showed his love was so huge, he would sacrifice his only son
