When does PIC take operational control of aircraft?
Sign on until completion of flight
Who dispatches the aircraft?
PIC self dispatch using company provided data (flight plan, WX etc.
When is PIC responsible for safety of aircraft, crew, pax, cargo and mail?
Doors closed or Engines starter (whichever is first) unit doors open on arrival or engines are shutdown.
Can PIC disembark PAX or Cargo
If in their opinion they represent a hazard to safety of aircraft or occupants.
When does IOC have operational control?
7 Day prior until PIC takes control.
Responsible for commercial decisions in that period.
PIC operational Decisions when in ops control?
In Conjunction with IOC
Who is responsible for initiating Flight?
PIC
Who is responsible for Flight Planning? (8.1)
PIC is responsible for the flight to be planned to meet safety, compliance and efficiency. Flight dispatch will do the planning
PIC will not commence flight until they are satisfied:
- AC Airworthy
- AC not operated outside MEL
- Appropriate manuals are available
- All documents, charts, maps and conversion tables are available
- Weather and rwy condition safe at departure, dest and alt
- RVR or Vis for takeoff at or above minima
- WX forecast for route above minima
- Ground facilities required are available
- Required Fuel, Oil, O2, MSA, operating minima and available alternates are sufficient
- Load properly distributed and safely secured
- any operational limit complied with
