- cyberbullying - can cause serious distress and even have people driven to suicide
- trolling - when someone causes public arguments for their entertainment

Can cause problems such as:
eye strains - due to looking at devices for too long.
repetitive strain injury - is when the body (finer or wrist) becomes damaged due to repetitive movement
back problems - due to poor posture

how has technology changed businesses?
- streaming services that allow customers to listen and watch media for less money
- new businesses such as uber and Airbnb

Causes:
- people do not have the money for expensive laptops and smartphones
- urban areas are likely to have a greater network coverage then rural areas
- people do not know how to use technology
this increases the inequality between the rich and the poor. As technology creates a lot of opportunities

- Devices contain many precious metals such as gold and uses a lot of energy which creates pollution.
- to produce devices we use fossil fuels that releases pollution
- E-waste - the world creates around 20-50 million tonnes per year and end up in landfills in Africa and Asia. this can be hazardous as it releases toxic chemicals.

What is Data protection act about (6 principles)?
- data must only be used in a fair lawful and transparent way
- data has to used for its specific purpose
- data should be adequate, relevant for use
- data must be accurate and kept up to date
- data should not be kept longer then necessary
- Data should be kept safe and secure
What is Copyright Designs and patent Act?
Means that it is illegal to distribute, modify or copy: music, videos, or other formats without the permission from the author.
What is Computer misuse Act?
It is illegal to make any unauthorised access to data
- with intent to commit further offences
- with the intent to modify data eg, viruses.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of open source software?
advantage: - free - software can be adapted by users - popular and very reliable and secure Disadvantages : - can be buggy - can have security holes - no customer support and warranties
What are the advantages and disadvantages of Proprietary source?
Advantages:
- comes with warranty and customer support
- well-tested and reliable with fixes and updates
Disadvantages:
- Can be expensive
- may not fit users needs
