1.4 Network security Flashcards
What are the common prevention methods?
penetration testing anti-malware software firewalls user access levels passwords encryption physical security
What is the penetration test?
To simulate potential attacks to their network. This is to identify possible weaknesses in the network security.
What is anti-malware?
designed to stop malware from damaging the network.
What are firewalls?
Used to block unauthorised access. The firewall examines all data that is entering and leaving the network and block potential threats.
What is user access levels?
controls which parts of the network different groups of users can access. This helps limit the number of people with access to important data, therefore helps prevent insider attacks on the network.
What are passwords?
Help to prevent unauthorised users access the network.
What is encryption?
When data is translated into a code which only someone with the correct key can access. This allows data to be send securely.
What is physical security?
protects the physical parts of a network.
