What is conurbation?
A very large urban area core where a city has expanded and merged in with surrounding towns and maybe another city.
Define population density?
Number of people per kilometre squared.
Define population distribution.
Where people are located in a country, different type of areas. Where it is more and less populated. A spread.
Define birth rate.
Number of births per 1,000 people per year.
Define death rate.
Number of people that die per 1,000 people per year.
Define fertility rate.
The total number of children born to each women.
Define immigration?
The action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country.
Define emigration.
The act of leaving one’s own country to settle permanently in another; moving abroad.
What are enterprise zones?
An area in which state incentives such as tax concessions are offered to encourage business investment.
What are regional development grants?
Gives new companies a sum of money to help start up their business. Has to be in the EU country.
What is net immigration?
Difference between the number of immigrants and the number of emigrants throughout the year.
What is natural increase in population?
The difference between the number of births and deaths in a population per year.
