what are management skills?
The abilities or expertise required by a manager to achieve their work.
What are communication skills?
creating and exchanging information between people that produces the required response by speaking clearly, using good body language and watching the body language of the person or group you are communicating with.
what are decision-making skills?
A multistep approach whereby a selection is made between a range of different alternatives (DODDSE). Define the objective, Outline the facts, Decide on the cause, Determine alternative solutions, Select and implement preferred alternative, Evaluate the effectiveness of the solution.
what are planning skills?
The ability of a manager to formulate objectives and to develop strategies to achieve the objectives of a business. Planning includes deciding on an objectives, setting a time-line, co-ordinating the involvement of relevant people, identifying any issues or problems, trialling the plan, implementing the plan and evaluating the plan.
what is delegation skills?
Passing of authority down the hierarchy to another person who will perform tasks or make decisions; the ultimate responsibility remains with the person delegating.
what are leadership skills?
The ability of a manager to influence others to achieve the objectives by communicating effectively, directing and motivating others.
what are interpersonal skills?
The ability of a manager to effectively interact with people on a personal basis in everyday life.
what is the relationship between management styles and skills?
The type of style used will determine the range of skills required.
