When workers are set a task and told how and when to complete it, without participation or consultation.
Advantage and disadvantages if autocratic leadership?

What type of businesses use autocratic leadership?
Large factories with low skilled workers.
What is democratic leadership?
Empowering employees by involving them in decision making. The leader remains in overall control, but workers decide how best to complete the task within a deadline.
Advantage and disadvantage of democratic leadership?
Adv: improves motivation
Disadv: slow
What type of businesses use democratic leadership?
Start ups and medium sized businesses since work forces are small.
What is paternalistic leadership?
It allows for consultation with employees, but the decision as to how to carry tasks out is made by the business leader.
What is a disadvantage of paternalistic leadership?
The leader can become so involved that they end up controlling everything and hindering development or creative freedom of employees.
What type of business uses paternalistic leadership?
Small/medium sized.
What is laissez-faire leadership?
Empowering employees to carry out a task with minimum interference from the manager. Leaders are available for advice and guidance when sought.
What type of businesses use laissez-faire leadership?
Large organisations that have many levels of management.
