14 - Engine Indication System Flashcards
Where is the TIT located
Directly behind combustion chamber
What is the term for the highest tempreature location
Turbine Inlet Tempreature (TIT)
What tempreatures can the TIT reach
1400°C
Where is exhaust gas measured
Between high and low pressure turbine or directly behind the low pressure turbine
What are exhaust gas tempreature ranges
600°C - 900°C
What do the EGT sensors use
Thermocouples
What is the tempreature range of the EGT indiactor
0°C - 1200°C
What three groups can engine indications be classes
Performance/primary - Monitor performance and limits, set thrust in flight phases
System/secondary - Monitor fuel, oil malfunctions
Engine trend - Uses ACMS to identify faults on ground
What two values are useed to determine engine thrust
Fan speed (N1) and engine pressure ratio (EPR)
What is shown in engine system indications
- Oil quantity
- Oil pressure
- Oil tempreature
- Engine vibration
What three analysis’ are performed in engine trend monitoring
- Thermodynamic analysis (gas flow pressure and tempreature)
- Mechanic-dynamic analysis (rotor system)
- Oil consumption analysis (oil consumption rate)
What is used for EPR measurement
Engine turbine discharge pressure and engine ram air inlet
What do the red/amber lines indicate for EPR
EPR max
What does the blue circle indicate for EPR
Actual throttle position
What are the two main types of oil gauges
- Bourdon type
- Strain
Briefly explain the Bourdon gauge
C or helical shaped with oval cross section, pressure in the tube acts to change to a circular cross section, this distortion moves an indicator
